Cynthia and Andy - Backyard Elopement in Beverly Hills

Let me just state right off the bat: I adore Cynthia! We attended the same college; she was a Voice major, and I was a Drama major, and we had some intersecting social circles. It has always been a joy to be in her presence. She exudes quiet confidence, has a smile that can light up a room, and has a voice that will knock you dead if you ever hear it. (She can sing everything from opera to soul to pop and back again.)

One of the joys of social media is that we have kept in touch with each other over the years, and I have been able to see her love story with Andy unfolding from afar. They met, fell in love, moved to Tennessee together, moved to back California… and after many road trips, rock climbing adventures, and picking up a couple of dogs along the way, they were finally ready to tie the knot.

The coronavirus hit, and big plans turned into little plans. They weren’t sure if they could make the big party they dreamed of happen, but they knew for sure they wanted to get married and it just couldn’t wait.

So they got married — in a backyard, officiated with the LA courthouse over a 5-minute Zoom meeting, with only Cynthia’s mom and a couple of family friends as witnesses.

And it was still beautiful.
